One goes hungry , another gets drunk. He praiseth them for observing the rules he had given them. As Alexander Campbell said: There can be no doubt that the Eucharist at this period shortly after Pentecost was preceded uniformly by a common repast, as when the ordinance was instituted. At these times, Paul insists, a woman should be thought to be acting shamefully if she does not cover her head. If it is the kind of regular prayer we see in Daniel 6:10, this would certainly be evident to the angels, and so a head covering would be appropriate. The Lord's supper is not an ordinance to be observed merely for a time, but to be continued. Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
But God has so composed the body , giving greater honor to the part that lacked it , 25 that there may be no division in the body , but that the members may have the same care for one another. Those who partake of it, are to take him as their Lord and Life, yield themselves up to him, and live upon him. That is understandable because Paul does not explain why these terms and activities have been chosen or what the implications of his words are. Head covering is a command, a tradition which was to be followed by every woman in every church. In 1 Corinthians 1:1-2, 4:14-17, 11:16, and 14:33-34, Paul indicates that his teaching in this epistle is for every Christian in every culture. They were chastened so that they would not be condemned with the world.
What is the new covenant all about? Farrar, with many others, concur in this view. This is the sum and substance of the gospel. Here, Paul speaks to those Christians who come from a Jewish environment. This ordinance, more than any other, reveals who is saved and who is not saved. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. As we take the bread and cup, we should not stare at the floor or struggle to achieve some sort of spiritual feeling. The headship of the man over a woman is important because it reflects the headship of Christ over His church and of God over Christ.
Christ as the highest pattern of the spirit described in. Here we come to the central verse of this passage, 1 Corinthians 11:10. Therefore, the conclusion is quite inescapable that, if a woman's hair conforms to apostolic standards of propriety, she requires no artificial covering. He said: A clear understanding has been obscured by ambiguous English translations, as well as by established custom. All men are sinners, subject to the eternal wrath of God. The apostle not only preached such doctrine as they ought to believe, but led such a life as they ought to live.

It also does not mean that every woman in the church is under the authority of every man — ridiculous! He feared not to make too frequent or too honourable mention of him. We should, even in our dress and habit, avoid every thing that may dishonour Christ. Any time that Christian men or women adopt styles, whether of clothing or hair, which are widely accepted as immoral, anti-social, anti-establishment, or in any manner degrading, such actions constitute a violation of what is taught here. Also, churches who think they do good in God's eyes, when they have bread and wine, every Sunday. Even in such a regulation as that, the implication is that the prohibition is not absolute, but qualified. The apostle closes all with a caution against the irregularities of which the Corinthians were guilty at the Lord's table.
See Nature of the Lord's Supper, below. We are part of an evangelical congregation and hence many of us do not observe the Lenten season as done in the mainline churches. One of the many problems in the church was the abuse of this event. For long hair is given to her as a covering. However, this is not written with the thought of excluding ourselves from the table, but of preparing us to receive with the right heart. There, the approach was more theological. For a considerable part of the first century, there existed many written documents of the Christian religion Luke 1:1 ; but such written documents were extensively supplemented by the word-of-mouth teaching which was promulgated by apostles and eyewitnesses of the inception of Christianity. Farrar's paraphrase of this is as follows: If we were in the habit of discriminating between spiritual and common things, we should not be undergoing this sign of God's displeasure; but the fact that his judgments are abroad among us, is for our further moral education, and to save us from being finally condemned with the world. The assumption is often made that we must first understand the cultural setting of a particular passage before we can understand or apply it.

Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. We should, even in our dress and habit, avoid every thing that may dishonour Christ. Some sincerely believe verses 1-16 refer to the church meeting. It means to have the appropriate responsibility to lead, and the matching accountability. The head of Christ is God.
