It probably isn't even one of the top 20 best comedies made in 1985. I rented Once Bitten, and I liked it so much in retrospect that I immediately went to Suncoast the next day and I bought it. But for whatever reason Jim Carrey was the guy who really sort of resonated with people, and then for whatever other reason it was decided that he would get his own movie. Even in Once Bitten he was about 23 years old, but the movie focuses on his inability to communicate very effectively with women, much less pull off any successful sexual encounters. I enjoyed the plot and it really seemed to interest me a lot because I am a teenager myself. The Countess' vampire clan is severely underused, but they are okay when they do appear. And if not, I still beg to differ. And every door they come to they smash in with their fists.
