My speaker I have checked many times, and even bought new ones in the past. I have an on-board Realtek sound driver. Another point could be that the program you have installed thinks you have 5. It may be a good idea to quit and restart Skyrim after you do this, just in case the settings don't display any result right away. This solution to get Skyrim audible again is for Realtek onboard sound, but it may help you sort things out. It also does this to me in Windows 7, too. .

You know it works when you do. I tried everything just like all of you and all i found was a slight improvement like some. Some of the common stabs in the dark that have been floating around here recently are not working so in the midst of giving up it dawned on me almost every sound card whether built in or stand alone card they all have equalizer software that is enabled or that you can enable that can be adjusted like that have preset volume mixes the fix works it is simple choose voice preset or the equal I'm sure they all don't have the same name for it but you get my drift anyway i chose voice and noticed one slider bar amongst the equalizer bars that was higher than the rest preset by the voice selection i mentioned of course so i rose it alone to max and adjusted the surrounding bars slightly as well and poof the sound including the voices were so loud i had to turn the volume down a bit so if your card has a audio deck software adjust the equalizer and bam! I have this exact problem too! Start the game and check. And Skyrim's audio options don't have anything other than volume options. The thing is: I don't know if they're really maxed-out since they're greyed. I am considering to write to Cirrus Logic to see if they can somehow solve the issue by delivering a newer driver -- but then again: Why should they do anything for one single customer. Then it stopped, and now says No Audio Output Device is installed. All other sounds in Skyrim seem to be fine but no music. Run Oblivion with music coming through no problem.
About a week ago, the Unofficial Skyrim Patch was conflicting and I couldn't absorb dragon souls. Random freezes and stutters in Skyrim: If you are getting random freezing or stutters, it could be your Anti Virus program. Not on the Bethesda screem, not on the Skyrim logo, not in game or anything. Or Windows 7,8 or 8. Posting about and discussing the use of these is fine.
I have rebooted both the game and my computer and deleted all the mods I had recently installed after it happened but nothing has changed. Check the Skyrim app if the volume has been turned down from that system mixer. Another option might sound a bit cheeky but make sure you have the speakers correctly plugged in both in the right sockets and firmly pushed in.
